Mrs. Donnelly
In the next few weeks will be exploring the genre of Mystery Stories! Students will be using the elements of mystery stories to write, edit and publish their own capers.
We are continuing to practice how to write and develop paragraphs, add detail and description to our writing, and use conventions of writing (capitals, punctuation, etc) consistently.

Mr. Sum
Our primary focus on language arts this term will be about non-fiction reading and non-fiction research reporting.
We will learn about the importance of text features, index, and glossary. We will have some guided reading activities.
As students are learning about bats, we have taken the opportunity to practice non-fiction paragraph writing. Students have written their first paragraph on the comparison between bats and birds. The second paragraph is on physical characteristics of bats, and the third paragraph is on the comparison between mega and micro bats. We are learning about topic sentences, body sentences, and concluding sentences. Our research will lead us in creating a research paper on bats and a power point presentation based on our research.
